What is the BC PNP?
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) is administered by the Province of British Columbia. It allows BC to nominate skilled workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs for Canadian permanent residence.
For most skilled worker pathways, BC uses the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) — a 200-point ranking system. You must register with a valid, full-time, indeterminate job offer from an eligible BC employer (unless your stream is exempt). BC invites the highest-scoring candidates in regular draws.

- SIRS — BC’s 200-point registration score for Skills Immigration streams (separate from federal CRS).
- CRS — Federal Express Entry ranking. Calculate your CRS score; an Express Entry BC nomination adds 600 points.

Registrations expire after 12 months without an invitation. If invited, you have 30 days to submit a complete application.

BC PNP Calculator – Frequently Asked Questions
Both use the same SIRS 200-point score if registration is required. Skills Immigration leads to a provincial nomination for a paper-based or non-Express federal PR application. EEBC requires you to be in the federal Express Entry pool first — a BC nomination adds 600 CRS points, which virtually guarantees a federal Invitation to Apply (ITA).
Yes, for SIRS streams. You need a full-time, indeterminate job offer from an eligible BC employer before registering (TEER 0–3 for Skilled Worker; TEER 1–3 for International Graduate). Exceptions: Health Authority and International Post-Graduate streams do not use SIRS and have different rules. Tech Pilot and certain NOC 41200 university roles may have modified offer requirements.
SIRS uses your hourly wage in CAD only — not annual salary, bonuses, commissions, or overtime. You earn up to 55 points ($70/hour or more). This is separate from employer eligibility rules (e.g. wage vs. median for your occupation), which the BC PNP also checks at application stage.
Area 1 is the Metro Vancouver Regional District (0 location points). Area 2 includes Squamish, Abbotsford, Agassiz, Mission, and Chilliwack (5 points). Area 3 is all other BC communities (15 points). If your job is in Area 2 or 3, you may claim an extra 10 points for regional work experience or graduating from a public BC institution outside Metro Vancouver.
BC typically holds invitation rounds about every two weeks. Draws may be general (all occupations) or targeted to priority sectors such as childcare, construction, healthcare, technology, and veterinary care — each with different minimum scores.
Yes. Recent graduates may qualify through Skills Immigration — International Graduate (SIRS + job offer, TEER 1–3) or International Post-Graduate (direct application, eligible BC master’s/PhD, no job offer). Studying in BC can also add up to 8 extra SIRS education points on your registration.
For SIRS scoring, higher CLB levels earn more points (up to 30 base points at CLB 9+). Occupations at NOC TEER 2, 3, 4, or 5 generally require at least CLB 4 in all four skills to register. TEER 0 and 1 job offers do not require language test results for registration, but submitting scores can significantly increase your SIRS total.
